WORKSHOPS AND CONVENINGS
WSC and its team of experts organize and conduct institutes, conferences and workshops designed to share promising practices and the latest innovations on effective workforce development.
- Funded by The Joyce Foundation, WSC organized, managed, and facilitated two cross-site meetings for policymakers representing the five Great Lakes states that make up the Shifting Gears initiative. The one-and-one-half day sessions provided participants the opportunity to learn from their peers from across the country, share information with one another, and plan for policy change work within their home states. To augment the cross-site meetings, WSC also delivered a webinar series to Shifting Gears states addressing topics of interest across the region, including the impact of changes to Federal Perkins legislation, strategic communications and media strategies, and career pathways mapping.
- As part of the Arkansas Career Pathways Initiative, WSC conducted the Institute for Economic Development, a two-day institute for 25 career pathways teams from across the state.
- WSC developed program content and facilitated four conferences for the Strategic Partnerships for a Competitive Workforce, an initiative of the U.S. Departments of Education and Labor. These conferences offered information and support to 32 regional partnerships from throughout the United States.
- WSC organized a one-half day workshop focused on the role of the employer in effective youth workforce development initiatives for the federal Shared Youth Vision initiative. WSC continued its convening role among the 16 Shared Youth Vision states offering a five webinar series showcasing promising employer engagement practices among youth-serving organizations.
